XRP Plunges 12% as Crypto Market Loses $1 Trillion

The cryptocurrency market had a rough start to the week, with multiple tokens experiencing significant losses. XRP, Dogecoin, and Cardano all saw double-digit declines, while Bitcoin only dropped by 2.6%. The market is on track for its worst day in four months, with about $1 trillion of value being wiped out. Over $1.76 billion worth of crypto was liquidated in the past 24 hours, with long positions making up the majority. Binance had the largest share of liquidations at $756.26 million. Ethereum had more longs liquidated than Bitcoin. Solana, Dogecoin, and XRP were among the top speculative bets in recent months. Crypto analytics firm Santiment believes there could be a rebound in assets like TRX, AVAX, DOT, ICP, POL, FIL, and TIA if retail traders start selling off their holdings.
