Tornado Cash Dev Roman Storm’s Criminal Case Will Proceed to Trial, NY Judge Orders

The U.S. Department of Justice's case against Tornado Cash developer Roman Storm will proceed to trial, as ruled by District Judge Katherine Polk Failla of the Southern District of New York. Storm was indicted last August on charges related to his work with the privacy mixer, including money laundering and violating international sanctions. Prosecutors claim that Tornado Cash and its developers knowingly facilitated the laundering of over $1 billion, including funds from North Korea's Lazarus Group. Storm has pleaded not guilty, with his lawyers arguing that he only wrote Tornado Cash's code and cannot be held responsible for any criminal activities. The trial is scheduled to begin on December 2nd and Storm faces a maximum sentence of 45 years in prison if convicted.
