Ripple CTO's Epic Take on XRP Smart Contracts Stuns Crypto Community

The Ripple CTO, David Schwartz, has expressed a cautious approach to implementing smart contracts on the XRP Ledger (XRPL). He believes that some level of programmability is better than none, as long as it remains useful, small, and safe. The goal is to enable real-world use cases without compromising the existing functionality of XRP. Schwartz emphasizes the need to go slowly and incrementally increase confidence in smart contract capabilities. Ripple has previously announced its commitment to bringing smart contracts to the XRPL dev ecosystem by 2025, both through an XRPL EVM sidechain and native capabilities on XRPL Mainnet.
