Hackers Demand $125K in French Bread in Crypto Ransomware Attack

A ransomware group called Hellcat has targeted French multinational corporation Schneider Electric and is demanding payment in the form of baguettes or $125,000 worth of the French bread. However, reports suggest that the group is actually willing to accept cryptocurrency, particularly Monero. The group claims to have infiltrated Schneider Electric and has threatened to release 40GB of stolen private data if the ransom is not paid. This incident marks the third breach of Schneider Electric in less than two years. While the baguette demand appears to be a marketing tactic, cybersecurity experts believe the group's intention is to sell its services more effectively in the ransomware market. Schneider Electric is currently investigating the incident.
