DeFi to Have ‘Walled Garden’ Moment as Internet of Money Matures: dYdX’s D’Haussy

Charles D'Haussy, CEO of the dYdX foundation, believes that decentralized finance (DeFi) is currently experiencing a market lull but has the potential to experience significant growth, similar to the internet in the 1990s. He sees the evolution of DeFi and the internet as parallel, with both facing regulatory challenges. D'Haussy predicts that regulators will focus on regulating centralized finance (CeFi) platforms rather than DeFi protocols themselves. He also suggests that CeFi platforms could act as a bridge to provide users with decentralized options within regulatory limits. Once the integration between CeFi and DeFi is figured out, D'Haussy believes that the future of finance will be realized, possibly in Hong Kong, a prominent hub for crypto.
