Zynga has given up control of the Sugartown crypto game and its intellectual property (IP). The team working on the game has launched a new independent company called D20 Labs, led by former Zynga executives. D20 Labs has already announced a new game called Royal Nutz Poker Club, which will be built on Coinbase's Base chain. The game will be a social casino poker game where players can participate in poker tournaments and win prizes. D20 Labs has formed strategic partnerships to create a rewards system for the game, with the first partnership being with ApeChain. Players will not be able to wager real cash. Zynga confirmed the transfer of power to D20 Labs, but declined to comment on the future of Web3 gaming for the company. D20 Labs plans to develop more games alongside the development of Sugartown.
