In a move to expand into the Solana ecosystem, Worldcoin's World IDs can now be authenticated on Solana. The interoperability protocol Wormhole is facilitating this deployment by bridging World ID's state roots from Ethereum to Solana. Several Solana-native projects, including DRiP, DSCVR, and Flojo, have already begun utilizing World ID. Worldcoin is an identity project developed by Tools for Humanity and is known for using iris scanning technology to establish unique identities. Worldcoin previously announced plans to build an Ethereum L2 called World Chain but has faced legal issues in multiple countries regarding the generation and storage of World IDs. Despite these challenges, World ID could prove useful for Solana, especially in combatting spam and sybil attacks. Wormhole co-founder Robinson Burkey suggested that Solana could enable applications such as airdrops, social proof systems, pay-per-content, and micro-transactions in video games using World ID. However, the project's growth is constrained by its legal woes and regulatory limitations.
