Vitalik Buterin, the co-founder of Ethereum, explained why the Ethereum Foundation chooses to sell its ETH holdings instead of staking them. He stated that staking could lead the Foundation to take a specific stance on network upgrades, which it wants to avoid. However, the Foundation is considering other methods to engage with staking, such as issuing grants in staked ETH or delegating staking responsibilities to other organizations. Many in the crypto community argue that staking the ETH could fund the Foundation's operations through rewards and reduce the need to sell assets. Buterin also emphasized the Foundation's contributions to the Ethereum network, including funding payments to developers and researchers, supporting innovations, and sponsoring Ethereum events worldwide. Recently, the Foundation sold 4,066 ETH on CoWSwap, and it has 271,000 ETH holdings worth approximately $673 million.
