Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has highlighted the importance of Reduced Instruction Set Computing V (RISC-V) in the Ethereum virtual machine (EVM). Buterin acknowledged the significance of the open-source instruction set in the existing validity proof formal verification roadmap. He referred a blockchain developer who proposed running the EVM on Ethereum's beacon chain using RISC-V to Alexander Hicks, an Ethereum team member. RISC-V is an open-source instruction set architecture that emphasizes simplicity and efficiency in executing instructions, facilitating simplified chip design and optimization of hardware and software interactions. The developer also suggested re-evaluating Ethereum's execution layer (EL) and proposed a simplified process involving QEMU and the engine API.
