Griff Green, the founder of Web3 product studio General Magic, believes that venture capital (VC) participation in token launch events has filled the gap left by the decline of initial coin offerings (ICOs) as a fundraising method. While acknowledging that VCs also became gatekeepers, Green argues that they provided a solution given the increased regulatory uncertainty. However, he believes that there are better models that prioritize long-term sustainability and alignment over quick returns. Green predicts that bonding curve launchpads will supersede the VC or airdrop model. He also discusses the use of a tokenization protocol called a quadratic accelerator to tackle issues such as manipulation and rapid sell-offs in token generation events.
