Eclipse has launched its mainnet blockchain, which combines technology from Ethereum and Solana into a layer-2 network. This allows users to transact on Ethereum with faster speeds and lower fees. Eclipse operates as its own network using the Solana Virtual Machine, allowing developers to scale their applications without having to choose between Ethereum and Solana. The modular setup of Eclipse enables dApps on the platform to easily interoperate with native Solana apps, providing liquidity from both ecosystems. The Eclipse mainnet has already onboarded several projects and has raised over $50 million from investors. The project has faced controversy, including the ousting of a co-founder over sexual misconduct allegations and undisclosed allocation of tokens to a backer.
