Republican Senator Cynthia Lummis suggests that the United States purchasing Bitcoin could potentially threaten rival nations like China and Russia, causing them to also buy Bitcoin and shifting their focus towards cryptocurrency rather than weapons. Senator Lummis believes that Bitcoin is a reputable store of value and has proposed a global adoption of the asset. She has introduced the Bitcoin Act bill, which proposes the US acquire 1 million bitcoins over five years using some of the country's gold stockpile. Additionally, the Bitcoin Policy Institute has filed an executive order to create a Bitcoin reserve in the US under the Exchange Stabilization Fund. This draft differs from Senator Lummis' Bitcoin Act and would serve as an executive order while the Senate deliberates on the Bitcoin bill.
