The CTO of Ripple, David Schwartz, has addressed concerns within the XRP community about the need for XRP in facilitating transactions on the XRPL. As Ripple prepares to launch RLUSD, a stablecoin, some individuals began questioning if XRP was still necessary on the XRPL. Schwartz emphasized that XRP is crucial for ensuring the network's security against spam attacks. Without XRP as a mandatory part of every transaction, the ledger could be overwhelmed with excessive requests, making it unstable. Schwartz's comments confirm that XRP will continue to play a central role on the XRPL, dispelling doubts stemming from the introduction of RLUSD.
