David Schwartz, the CTO of Ripple, has denied being a billionaire in a recent social media post. In 2018, during the XRP rally, top Ripple executives appeared among the richest people globally, with Ripple co-founder Chris Larsen's net worth reaching $54 billion and Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse being worth close to $10 billion. However, Schwarz, often referred to as Ripple's "trillion-dollar man," chose a 2% stake in the company and a salary instead of XRP tokens, resulting in a more modest net worth of $90 million according to Forbes in 2019. Schwartz confirmed in 2021 that his net worth is "a lot less than $170 million," attributing it to having a significant portion tied up in volatile assets. He also disclosed holding XRP, Bitcoin, and other altcoins. The popularity of XRP surged this year, with Forbes reporting that Larsen gained an additional $6 billion in net worth in one month due to the token's rally.
