Trinity College in Dublin has partnered with Ripple's University Blockchain Research Initiative (UBRI), becoming the first Irish institution to do so. The university will establish a blockchain research initiative at the Adapt Research Ireland Centre, focusing on advancing blockchain technology, addressing cryptocurrency cybersecurity challenges, and developing fintech solutions. Trinity College will receive $200,000 in funding over two years and will host an XRPL validator to support Ripple's blockchain network. The collaboration aims to allow students and staff to develop solutions for real-world challenges, including a decentralized social media platform. Trinity College will also promote blockchain adoption through educational programs and workshops. The partnership aligns with Ripple's mission to drive advancements in the blockchain industry and UBRI has previously partnered with over 50 universities worldwide.
