Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has proposed a plan known as "The Scourge" to address the rising centralization in Ethereum's block construction and the dominance of liquid staking providers. The proposal includes a two-tier staking system and giving more control to proposers over transaction selection. This comes after concerns were raised about the centralization of block production. Two builders, Titan Builder and Beaverbuild, have produced almost 88.7% of Ethereum's blocks in the past two weeks due to the growth of private order flows. The proposal has received mixed reactions, with some believing it will foster a more decentralized environment while others are skeptical, particularly regarding the suggestion to lower terminal inflation. Solo stakers may struggle to remain profitable if yields continue to decrease.
