Former CFTC Chair Chris Giancarlo, also known as "Crypto Dad," has confirmed that he will not be vying for the position of SEC boss to replace Gary Gensler. In a social media post, Giancarlo stated that he does not want to clean up Gensler's mess again. Giancarlo had previously served as the head of the CFTC and had taken a friendly stance on digital assets. He has also denied rumors about potentially getting a crypto role at the US Department of Treasury. During his term, Giancarlo declared that Bitcoin, Ethereum, and the Ripple-affiliated cryptocurrency were not securities. Gensler, who currently heads the SEC, has taken a more hostile approach towards crypto and has taken several crypto companies to court. He is expected to depart the agency, and the SEC is expected to drop all non-fraud crypto cases. Possible contenders to replace Gensler include Dan Gallagher, Robinhood's top lawyer, and former SEC Commissioner Paul Atkins. SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce, known as "Crypto Mom," is reportedly not interested in the position.
