Pi Network, a cryptocurrency project, has released Pi Node Version 0.5.0, bringing it one step closer to its mainnet launch. This update includes Testnet2, a simulated blockchain environment that allows node operators to familiarize themselves with upcoming changes. However, the original Testnet will still function normally for users and developers. The introduction of Testnet2 also provides flexibility for future updates and ensures a smoother transition to the mainnet. With over 200,000 nodes already in operation, Pi Network is working towards a globally distributed network and aims for an Open Network launch in 2024, depending on meeting specific conditions and objectives.
