Nobel laureate economist Eugene F. Fama predicts that bitcoin will ultimately become worthless due to its extreme volatility and lack of intrinsic value. He believes that economic theory suggests bitcoin cannot endure and that it cannot replace traditional currency. Fama warns that government involvement in bitcoin could actually drive its value to zero. However, he is unable to predict when the cryptocurrency bubble will burst and hopes that it does so in order to validate fundamental economic theories.
