Near Protocol has announced a groundbreaking project in artificial intelligence (AI) at the Redacted conference in Bangkok. The initiative aims to create the world's largest open-source AI model with 1.4 trillion parameters, three and a half times larger than Meta's Llama model. Participants will compete through the Near AI Research hub, starting with a smaller model of 500 million parameters. The project requires a $160 million investment, which will be financed through token sales, with token holders benefiting from the AI model's revenues. Edward Snowden highlighted the risks of centralized AI and emphasized the need for decentralized AI frameworks to protect user privacy. Near Protocol's initiative is a step towards a more open and accountable AI landscape.
