The Sui Foundation has partnered with MoviePass to allow users of the layer-1 network to pay for subscriptions to the cinema service using stablecoins. The partnership, announced at Token 2049, involves the Sui Foundation taking an equity stake in MoviePass. The integration will leverage Circle's USDC stablecoin, and other experiences using Sui's network are planned for early 2023. MoviePass aims to offer on-chain rewards and enable users to invest in films directly through Sui's network. The company anticipates that U.S.-based users will be able to participate in features such as "fan staking," although details about this feature have not been disclosed. MoviePass experienced financial difficulties in the past but claims to have achieved profitability following venture capital funding from the crypto industry. Sui's native token, SUI, has experienced price fluctuations, and MoviePass co-founder Stacy Spikes believes blockchain technology can enhance the moviegoing experience.
