On February 4, Michael Saylor, Bitcoin evangelist and co-founder of MicroStrategy, celebrated his sixtieth birthday. Four years ago, he shifted his company's strategy to focus entirely on Bitcoin and stepped down from the CEO position to become the executive chairman. Saylor had previously experienced a downfall in his fortune during the dotcom bubble burst in the early 2000s. In August 2020, he started using MicroStrategy's cash reserves to buy Bitcoin, and the company has since continued to increase its Bitcoin holdings. Currently, MicroStrategy holds 471,107 Bitcoins worth nearly $47 billion, and Saylor personally owns 17,732 Bitcoins valued at over $1.7 billion.
