ZachXBT, a well-known cryptocurrency investigator, has reported that a victim lost approximately $3.19 million in USDT on the Tron blockchain due to a hack. The stolen funds were then transferred to Ethereum and split among 10 addresses before being deposited into Tornado Cash. ZachXBT believes that the hack was carried out by the North Korean Lazarus Group, who have previously been involved in similar attacks. This comes after the Lazarus Group was also linked to the Bybit and Phemex hacks. Elliptic, a blockchain analytics firm, states that the Lazarus Group has stolen over $6 billion in cryptocurrency since 2017, with the funds reportedly being used for North Korea's ballistic missile program. The group uses various methods, such as exchanging stolen tokens for Ether and utilizing decentralized exchanges, to launder the stolen funds and make it difficult to trace them.
