The launch of Unichain has sparked speculation that Vitalik Buterin, the founder of Ethereum, is not in favor of the project. Buterin previously criticized Uniswap's value proposition and questioned the need for a rollup from the decentralized exchange. However, Uniswap launched the testnet for Unichain, an Ethereum Layer-2 solution, despite Buterin's comments. Unichain aims to address the challenges of speed and high transaction costs in the DeFi sector and has achieved fast transaction settlement capability in its testnet. Uniswap's native token, UNI, has seen positive movement in its market value following the announcement of the L2 solution. The crypto sector is witnessing a rise in Ethereum L2 solutions, with many focused on solving the scalability challenge. Currently, there are 105 Layer-2 protocols aiming to address Ethereum's scalability, with Arbitrum, Base, and OP Mainnet being the top three by Total Value Locked. Buterin continues to seek methods to improve Ethereum's functionalities.
