Eve Online creator CCP Games has announced that its upcoming blockchain game, previously known as Project Awakening, will now be called Eve Frontier. The game is designed as an on-chain space simulation game where players can shape and expand the universe. It will be built on the Ethereum ecosystem and will utilize Ethereum's ERC-20 token standard. The game will also incorporate Redstone, an Ethereum layer-2 network optimized for on-chain autonomous game worlds. Eve Frontier will feature multiple crypto tokens, including the EVE Token and the LUX Token. CCP Games plans to allow players and alliances to create their own currencies, with tokens being used to reward developers. The game is being developed using CCP's Carbon game engine and will be open source. It will also utilize the MUD game engine developed by Lattice. The game will launch its next closed beta playtest on September 27.
