The upcoming Pectra upgrade for Ethereum may be split into two separate hard forks due to its complexity. The upgrade could include over 20 Ethereum Improvement Proposals (EIPs), with the first part potentially launching in February next year and the second part in the latter half of the year. The first phase will include EIPs such as enabling Externally Owned Accounts (EOAs) to operate as smart contract wallets, while the second phase focuses on implementing the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) Object Format (EOF) and PeerDAS. Developers will decide next week whether to split Pectra into two upgrades.
