The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) has issued its final guidance to member states on implementing the forthcoming Markets in Crypto Asset (MiCA) rules. The MiCA rules, which are designed to regulate the crypto sector, are set to come into effect in the European Union by December 30. However, some countries still need to pass legislation in order to implement the rules. The short period of time between ESMA's publication of its final technical standards in October and the implementation date has caused delays for national competent authorities. ESMA has stated that it will continue to provide guidance and work with authorities to ensure the smooth implementation of MiCA.
