EigenLayer, the largest Ethereum restaking protocol, will be upgrading its rewards program to provide more flexibility to protocols and restakers. The changes will allow third-party protocols that use EigenLayer to distribute rewards to validators based on performance and allow validators to set fee rates independently. The upgrades are set to launch on the mainnet in January. EigenLayer has secured numerous actively validated services (AVSs) with nearly $19 billion of restaked collateral. EigenLayer also recently unveiled its own EIGEN token, which is designed to protect protocols from a wider range of failures.
