A dormant bitcoin wallet from 2012 suddenly became active on November 17, 2019, moving 400 BTC valued at $35.7 million. This wallet had previously acquired the bitcoin in 2012 when the cryptocurrency was valued at $5.60. The transaction sent 200 BTC to the Bitstamp exchange and the remaining amount to another wallet. The transaction had low privacy due to matched addresses and the use of round numbers. This is not the first time that this wallet has become active, as it previously transferred bitcoin in October 2019. The transaction raises speculation about the intent behind the movement of dormant wallets and draws attention to the large amount of untouched bitcoin still in existence from previous years.
