Visa's Head of Crypto, Cuy Sheffield, believes that stablecoins based on non-dollar fiat currencies will experience significant growth in the future. Currently, USD-based stablecoins dominate the market, but Sheffield envisions a future where all major fiat currencies will be represented on-chain. He also mentioned that the diversity of stablecoin offerings is increasing, with new entrants attempting to differentiate themselves from the USD options. Sheffield sees 2024 as a "watershed" year for stablecoins, as non-crypto businesses increasingly use them to solve payment challenges for freelancers in different countries.
