Digital asset payments for imports in Brazil have reached a new record, surpassing last year's total, according to data from Banco Central do Brasil (BCB). In September, Brazilians paid $1.429bn in digital assets for imports, a 40% leap from the same period last year. This brings net digital asset import payments for the first nine months of 2024 to $13.797bn, a 60.7% increase from the previous year. Stablecoins dominated digital asset payments, accounting for 70% of the payments. Meanwhile, Dutch authorities have shut down two malware strains that steal sensitive data, including digital asset passwords.
