Bitcoin retreated to $85,000, erasing gains from the weekend's surge sparked by President Donald Trump's announcement of plans for a multi-asset national crypto reserve. The total crypto market capitalization fell more than 10%, dropping to $2.9 trillion after previously reaching $3.2 trillion. Altcoins also experienced losses, with major coins like Ethereum, XRP, Solana, and Cardano posting double-digit declines. Stock markets were also affected, with the Dow Jones, S&P 500, and Nasdaq indices all experiencing losses. Crypto-related stocks faced selling pressure, with Coinbase Global, Robinhood, and MicroStrategy all seeing declines in their stock prices. The market sell-off also resulted in over $800 million in crypto liquidations in the past day.
