The memecoin BadCoin (BADAI) advertised the anti-sniping capabilities of Gra.fun software to attract buyers. However, the software categorized regular traders as snipers, leading to a crash for those who could sell off their holdings. Sniping refers to traders who execute orders at advantageous prices, and in the context of memecoins, it refers to well-capitalized traders who buy tokens at launch and sell them quickly to less sophisticated buyers. BadCoin's attempts to leave snipers behind by launching on a different blockchain and leaving Pump.fun behind were unsuccessful. The price of BADAI spiked but quickly declined on Gra.fun and Pancakeswap, and a dual listing on Gate.io also experienced a similar pattern. Gra.fun admitted its own failures in blocking legitimate sellers and is manually investigating the issue.
