Woman Sentenced to 8 Years in Prison After Failed Bitcoin Murder-for-Hire Plot

Melody Sasser, a woman from Knoxville, Tennessee, has been sentenced to over eight years in prison for attempting to hire a hitman through the dark web using bitcoin. She paid nearly $10,000 in cryptocurrency to have an Alabama resident killed and tried to make it look like an accident. However, authorities discovered incriminating evidence in her home, leading to her arrest and conviction. Sasser accessed a site called Online Killers Market and provided detailed information about the intended victim, including photos and location data. The plot failed, and she was sentenced to 100 months in prison and ordered to pay restitution to the victim.
