Ripple, the enterprise blockchain company, unlocked one billion XRP tokens after it was confirmed that XRP would be part of a multi-token cryptocurrency reserve in the US. This comes after the company transferred 500 million XRP tokens to its escrow account. XRP's fully diluted valuation briefly surpassed Ethereum's on Sunday but has since given up some gains. The concept of a multi-token cryptocurrency reserve has faced backlash, with critics arguing that taxpayers should not support cryptocurrencies that are only decentralized in name. XRP has fallen over 10% in value, currently trading at $2.30, following a significant transfer of XRP to a leading cryptocurrency exchange in South Korea.
