EU Commission approves Nvidia’s Run:ai acquisition

The European Commission has approved Nvidia's $700 million bid to acquire Israeli startup Run:ai without any conditions or concerns over competition. The deal had been referred to the Commission by an Italian competition authority to assess if it would raise competition concerns in the European Economic Area. The EU's investigation focused on activities related to GPUs, but ultimately concluded that the acquisition would not negatively impact competition in critical markets. Nvidia designs and supplies GPUs for data center applications, while Run:ai provides GPU orchestration software. The approval comes as regulators pay more attention to big tech's takeover of smaller rivals to ensure fair competition.
