Cardano to Welcome Major Hard Fork in January: Details

The Cardano blockchain is preparing for a significant upgrade known as the Plomin hard fork, with expectations for its activation in January 2025. The Intersect organization, a member-based group within the Cardano ecosystem, has provided an update on the progress of this upgrade. The governance action for the hard fork was submitted on-chain on December 20, marking a milestone in blockchain governance. If ratified, this action will bring full governance to the Cardano mainnet, advancing its goal of becoming a decentralized and self-governing blockchain. The Intersect update also lists the dApps and exchanges that have signaled their readiness for the hard fork. As of the latest update, 79% of stake pool operators are producing blocks with the required node version, and 209 out of 213 stake pool operators have voted "yes" for the upgrade so far. The voting deadline is January 29.
