Binance addresses ‘dumping ETH and SOL’ accusations
Cryptocurrency exchange Binance has responded to accusations of market manipulation by denying that it "dumped" or "sold" millions of Solana (SOL) and Ethereum (ETH) tokens. The exchange clarified that it simply facilitates trades and has no control over users' decisions or the actions of market makers like Wintermute. Binance urged traders not to jump to conclusions and encouraged them to learn more about market makers and their role in providing liquidity. Previously, Binance was accused, along with other exchanges, of manipulating the market with sell-offs and price capping, although no conclusive evidence has been provided. The exchange claims to have a market surveillance program to detect and prevent market manipulation. Market makers are important for liquidity and stability in the crypto market by placing buy and sell orders and tightening bid-ask spreads.
