The Virtuals Protocol (VIRTUAL) cryptocurrency has experienced the highest gains in 2024, with a 23,079% increase since the beginning of the year. It has outperformed Bitcoin by 172x and is currently ranked 44th on CoinMarketCap. The success of Virtuals Protocol can be attributed to its AI agents launchpad, which provides exposure to both the AI and meme coin sectors. Other notable gainers in 2024 include Brett (BRETT), Popcat (POPCAT), Mantra (OM), and Mog Coin (MOG). Despite reaching a new all-time high of $108K, Bitcoin faced competition from altcoins like Cardano, Solana, and XRP. Ethereum (ETH) did not achieve significant gains despite the approval of spot Ethereum ETFs. It is currently trading at $3,359.24.
