The highly anticipated inauguration ceremony of Donald Trump as the 47th US president took place, but he failed to mention cryptocurrency in his speech, causing a massive crash in the market. Bitcoin's price tumbled by over $5,000 during the inauguration but briefly spiked during the speech. However, once it became clear that Trump would not mention the digital asset industry, BTC and the market as a whole plummeted. Many altcoins, including Trump's official meme coin, also experienced significant losses. The total crypto market cap decreased from over $3.850 trillion to $3.6 trillion during the crash. The wrecked positions reached nearly $200 million, with around 400,000 traders being liquidated.
