JPMorgan and Central Banks Join BIS Blockchain Project

Banking giant JPMorgan, Visa, and central banks from Japan and the US have shown support for Project Agora, a cross-border payment initiative by the Bank of International Settlements (BIS). The project aims to enhance the efficiency and transparency of cross-border payments through tokenization and a unified ledger. The BIS intends to create a blueprint for modern financial market infrastructure and plans to publish a report on the project's results in 2025. This is the most comprehensive blockchain project initiated by the BIS, and it follows the successful minimum viable product stage of another BIS project called mBridge.
