CandleFocus Ethereum’s native rollups promise trustless scalability

The Ethereum Foundation is currently experiencing some internal conflicts, but work on the Ethereum network continues. Ethereum researcher Justin Drake has published an article on a new design called "native rollups." Native rollups rely on Ethereum L1 validators for proving state transitions and validation, unlike other rollup designs that push computational burden to L2 before relying on fraud or zk proof systems. Native rollups inherit the security of Ethereum L1, making them trustless. They also offer synchronous composability, allowing transactions to be composable across different rollup chains. Native rollup execution is not limited by block time and validators only need to verify zk proofs. Native rollups may help address the problem of ETH value accrual by making ETH necessary for transaction settlement and directing value back to ETH as the primary value sink. Overall, native rollups are seen as a significant step towards reinforcing Ethereum's value proposition and ETH's role in the decentralized ecosystem.
