Charles Schwab to Launch Spot Crypto ETFs if Regulations Change

Asset manager Charles Schwab is considering entering the crypto exchange-traded fund (ETF) market, according to incoming CEO Rick Wurster. Wurster stated that the company would offer spot digital currency trading if the U.S. regulatory environment changed. Schwab currently offers indirect exposure to the crypto market through crypto-linked ETFs and futures. The interest in crypto is likely due to the current bullish sentiment in the market, sparked by Donald Trump's victory in the U.S. presidential election. The crypto industry is optimistic following the announcement of the resignation of Securities and Exchange Commission Chair Gary Gensler, expecting a more favorable regulatory climate under the Trump administration.
