Bitnob crypto exchange data breach: 250k KYC documents at risk

Nigerian crypto exchange Bitnob has reportedly exposed over 250,000 Know Your Customer (KYC) documents, including government IDs, passports, and driver's licenses, due to a misconfigured Amazon Web Services storage bucket. Cybernews researchers discovered the leak in September and noted that KYC documents are in high demand on dark web marketplaces. The leak is believed to be due to human error and Bitnob has since secured the data, but has not made any public statements about the incident. The Lagos-based exchange, founded in 2020, offers Bitcoin-based services across Africa.
