13 Regions Face Crypto Mining Ban Under Russia's New Energy Policies

The Russian government has approved restrictions on cryptocurrency mining in 13 regions, which will be in effect starting from December 1. The decision aims to manage peak electricity demand and address energy shortages. The regions targeted include Irkutsk, Buryatia, and Transbaikal, while Moscow is excluded. The ban is prioritized for areas with subsidized electricity prices and forecasted shortages, based on advice from the Energy Ministry and local authorities. These measures are intended to tackle regulatory and fiscal challenges in the affected regions.
