Ethereum Pectra Upgrade Takes Shape as Crucial EIP Approved

The recent Ethereum All Core Developers Execution Call discussed the progress of the Pectra (Prague-Electra) update, which is considered Ethereum's most ambitious update since The Merge. The call approved the inclusion of EIP-7691, which aims to increase the number of blobs in a block to enhance scalability through L2 solutions. Additionally, EIP-7623, co-authored by Vitalik Buterin, was also included in the agenda, while discussions continue on EIP-7762, EIP-7639, and retroactive EIP-4803. The Mekong testnet encountered challenges but has been resolved. Overall, the Pectra upgrade is expected to have a large agenda, addressing data logistics, L1/L2 interaction, and fee structure, with the first phase scheduled for 2025 and the second phase for 2026.
