Donald Trump’s AG pick Matt Gaetz has shady crypto associates

President-elect Donald Trump has nominated Matt Gaetz, a former representative from Florida, to be the next attorney general of the United States. Gaetz, who was under investigation for sexually trafficking minors, has connections to the crypto industry, which has been a frequent target of the Department of Justice (DOJ). Gaetz's associate, Joel Greenberg, who admitted to paying a 17-year-old girl for sex, claimed that Gaetz also had sex with her. Greenberg has engaged in unethical behavior involving cryptocurrencies, including offering bitcoin for a pardon and using public funds to purchase bitcoin mining machines. Despite Gaetz's controversies, he has received support from the crypto industry for his proposed bill requiring the IRS to accept bitcoin as payment for taxes and his opposition to the Federal Reserve offering Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs) to consumers.
