Despite a dip in Bitcoin's price, the network's computational power reached a new all-time high on September 7th, 2024, with a seven-day average of 679 exahash per second (EH/s). This surpasses the previous record set on July 25th. This achievement highlights the determination of miners in the face of declining profits and emphasizes the high-stakes nature of Bitcoin mining. The network is steadily approaching the zettahash era, with only 67.9% left to reach 1,000 EH/s.
