Bitcoin blitz: Odell Beckham Jr. and 6 other NFL stars betting big on blockchain

NFL star Odell Beckham Jr. has announced that he will take his entire $4.25 million salary from the Los Angeles Rams for the 2021-2022 season in Bitcoin. He is partnering with Square CashApp for the conversion and also plans to give away $1 million in Bitcoin to fans. Beckham Jr. is not alone in this crypto trend among NFL players. Russell Okung, who converted half of his $13 million salary into Bitcoin in 2020, inspired other players to follow suit. Sean Culkin became the first NFL player to convert his entire salary into Bitcoin, and players like Saquon Barkley and Aaron Rodgers have also shown interest in cryptocurrency. However, the timing of these Bitcoin paydays was not ideal, as Bitcoin's value sharply declined after November 2021.
