92,554 Users Exposed As Crypto Payments Firm Reveals Attacker Accessed Names, Birth Dates, Passports, Drivers Licenses and More

US-based crypto payments firm Transak recently experienced a security breach, exposing the personal information of 92,554 users. The hacker gained access through a phishing attack on an employee's laptop and used their credentials to log into a third-party vendor that Transak uses for customer verification services. The compromised data includes users' names, dates of birth, ID documents, and selfie photos and videos. However, Transak reassures users that no financially sensitive information, such as email addresses, passwords, or credit card details, was compromised. As a non-custodial platform, Transak states that user funds remain secure and unaffected by the attack. The affected users represent 1.14% of Transak's customer base.
